10 tips for a healthy lifestyle

Every one of us wants to be slim, healthy and have an active lifestyle. Right? And what do we do for this purpose?

Well, we all know that a healthy person doesn’t smoke, keeps their weight at a normal level, exercises and eats healthy food. It sounds very simple, but those who have tried to change their habits for a healthy lifestyle know how hard it really is. Some people try to drastically change their lives in one day, but when they run into difficulties, the lack of motivation comes out.

The secret to a healthy lifestyle: small, almost imperceptible changes: a glass of water in the morning, more physical activity, and an optimistic outlook on life are the secrets you need. Small steps lead to big results!

1. Drink a glass of water in the morning
When you wake up in the morning, drink a glass of room temperature water first thing in the morning. If you don’t like the taste of plain water, put a slice of lemon or lime in the glass. Water will help cleanse all of your body’s systems, boost your metabolism and flush out toxins. Some even say it helps you lose weight.

2. Get plenty of sleep
Lack of sleep makes you feel tired and angry. Lack of sleep can cause physiological problems (especially heart problems). Studies show that an adult needs 8 hours of sleep per night. But everyone is different and the need for sleep can vary between 6-10 hours. If you feel sleepy between 4pm and 6pm, you are most likely not getting enough sleep

3. Warm up in the morning!
Instead of dozing off in the morning, act wisely – get some exercise! Stretch, stretch your legs and arms, this will make it easier for your blood to reach your muscles, bringing them extra oxygen and preparing them for the new day.

4. Choose the right snacks
Potato chips, salted peanuts, cookies and other yummy snacks are not good for your body at all. They contain a lot of fats, salts and sugars. Choose raw nuts, fresh fruits or berries. They are rich in vitamins and minerals.

5. Eat breakfast!
Breakfast is the most important part of the daily diet, especially for those who want to lose weight. If you skip it, you’ll get hungry long before lunch and start snacking on everything. A 2003 study by the American National Heart Association shows that those who eat breakfast are much less obese than those who don’t.

6. Take a walk every day
We all know we should move more, but most of us don’t have the extra time or desire to exercise. Use stairs more often than elevators, walk with friends, walk your dog, take every opportunity to get moving. Studies show that people only need to move 15-18 kilometers a week (that’s about 125-200 minutes a week) to keep their heart healthy.

7. Socialize
It is said that lonely people are more likely to get sick and die sooner. People who don’t have friends often experience stress, depression and are usually less physically active. What’s more, experts say that the way a person behaves socially can determine what their health and career path will be like years from now.

8. Read the composition of your favorite foods
An ingredient list can help you determine if the foods you buy contain unhealthy and unnatural products. There are hundreds and thousands of unhealthy products on the market, each of which is simply impossible to memorize. Fortunately, a lot has been written about them on the internet, so carefully read the composition of foods, cosmetics and other things you buy. Harmful ingredients can cause various diseases, allergic reactions and even cancer.

9. Seek adventure
Do something together with your family and friends: hiking, skiing, canoeing or biking. Each new hobby will allow you to de-stress and enjoy life. You’ll also start meeting people with the same interests as you, making many pleasant and useful acquaintances. Enjoy your hobbies and remember – happy people live longer.

10. Love life!
Relax more often! Don’t let yourself get stressed out over nonsense. Don’t take things too seriously. Smile, love yourself and others, and always look on the bright side of things!
